Funeral set for truck victim James Lewis
The funeral for James Lewis, 45, a logging-truck driver killed when his truck overturned on a gravel road, will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. from Dixie Funeral Home to Mount Vernon Cemetery. Rev C H Reed of the Assembly of God will officiate. Lewis, survived by a wife, two sons, three daughters, and several relatives, was killed when the truck sped off a hill and rolled. Willie Lucas found him and fetched help. authorities say Lewis was crushed under the cab. The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. on the old Columbia road in Ward 9 while Lewis hauled logs for Parlor City Lumber Co.

Dr Vivienne Spencer wife of Dr B E Spencer of Sterlington died yesterday in El Paso Texas while returning from Arena where she had traveled for health reasons. A Ouachita parish physician educated at Arizona Texas and Tulane University she graduated from Tulane in 1930 and belonged to regional medical societies. Service at Pewars Funeral chapel then St Matthews Catholic Church with burial at Riverview Burial Park. Pallbearers listed.
