On June 26 the coronation of the queen will be held that evening at 7 pm followed by the queen’s grand ball at the site. The celebration promises formal ceremonies and a festive reception for attendees and guests.
Evaporation from the Dead Sea produces dramatic blue white cloud formations hovering near the water, reflecting the high salinity and solar heat of the region.
Bruce "Bubbles" Becker leads his orchestra and the Spotlight Revue for a 9 p.m. Saturday show at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club. The act promises a lively entertainment program with musical numbers and theatrical interludes.
A 16 member act comprising a 10 piece orchestra and six entertainers travels from the East Coast for extended engagements in Texas. Dining opens until 10 p m with the Spotlight revue at 10 30 p m. The club dance at 9 p m is informal for members families and out of town guests only. Clark Upp, manager, notes this marks the first Spotlight revue with varied acts after Clyde McCoy's recent Country Club appearance.
The calendar lists Yves' Club and Laytown Home Demonstration activities at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Plus Delta Kappa Pi at 2 p.m. and Rainbow Girls initiation at 7:30 p.m. Bee's Club swim party, creative writing, and veterans' auxiliary meetings are noted. Additional events include a buffet supper, a WSC S meeting, and a Delta Rho Delta fish fry.
Mr and Mrs Ed Crowley and daughter Marilyn joined Lamar Life Insurance convention members in Jackson Mississippi then flew to Jamaica as guests of the Lower Isle Hotel. Don Caldwell heads to University of Wyoming Science School while joining Humble Oil in Laramie. Births announced for Sherri Glenn and Richard Eugene. Various residents and visitors travel, study, or relocate to Baton Rouge Monroe Shreveport and Lake Bruin areas with multiple family notes and addresses.
Visiting Mrs. Pace's parents the Fred Fudickars Sr. the group also spent a week at Lake St John with the Ferriday family and others including Mrs Hugh Glascow and daughter Katherine Fred Fudickar Jr. Frederick and Pat Riley joined for fishing and swimming Catherine Barfield of Lake Providence stays with grandmother Mrs J L Powers Genie Wilson at Camp Hardiner for two weeks James Wood and family announce their second daughter Mrs Wood formerly Charlotte Naiden Mrs J L Bates Jr and Beverley Annise of New Orleans finish a two week visit with Phillip Bernhardt family and Bates returns home.
The O. N. Reynolds hosted a June 13 birthday surprise at Synope plantation for their son Neal. About thirty guests enjoyed a fishing themed party with a net display and real fish, while Mr. Reynolds grilled fish and family members served refreshments.
Plans for the first Louisi ana Peach Festival move forward with entries to the queen contest and junior rodeo, with 11 contestants for queen from northeast Louisiana and southeast Arkansas. Miss Jane Wallace, 18, West Monroe, sponsored by Kiwanis, competes for queen. Junior rodeo contestants train daily at the grounds. The parade with queen candidates will start at 3 30 p m on Thursday.
