States report the first ballot results listing Dewey Taft Stassen and others with totals by state. Dewey leads in many states including New York California Illinois and Pennsylvania while Taft and Stassen split remaining support. The roll call tallies show Dewey favored by numerous delegations and several states split among Taft Stassen and others.
The Twin City Community Chest elected a new board including J Shelby Cage and Fred Fudickar Jr, with Patterson of Louisiana Power and Light named president for the coming year. Retiring president Cage praised ten years of service since 1938 and called for broader community support to sustain the chest’s work.
Mrs. Joseph L. Brock 26 died after slipping in a bathtub at Wilton Plantation shortly after 9 30 am Thursday from a cerebral hemorrhage. She was reared in East Carroll parish daughter of ex state Senator Norris Williamson active in clubs and Grace Episcopal Church alumna of All Saints College and Oklahoma A and M survived by husband son Larry daughter Salley and her parents funeral arrangements were incomplete at noon Thursday.
