Amn. Charles E. Baker Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. E. Baker of Monroe, has a new Air Force posting after completing the telephone equipment installation repairman course at Sheppard AFB Texas. He will report to Eglin AFB Florida for duty with a unit of the Air Force Communications Service following his Ouachita Parish High School graduation in 1975. Friends and family plan a gathering Thursday evening at 1707 S. 9th St. Monroe to wish one year old Michelle Hines a happy birthday.
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and South African Prime Minister John Vorster began talks in Bavaria with aims to steer Rhodesia toward black majority rule within two years. A grand jury indicted Public Safety Commissioner George D Artois on three counts of tampering with evidence from gambling raids.
