Miss Annie Goldstein commits suicide in Brookhaven Mississippi the death reported by local press. The incident notes a woman taking her own life in a private residence. Authorities advised no foul play suspected pending investigation.
Miss Annie Goldstein, of New Orleans, attempted to shoot Morris Mendle of Brookhaven, then swallowed carbolic acid and died. The attack stemmed from an attachment dating back two years. She traveled from Ruston to New Orleans to confront Mendle and was later found dead at the Inez Hotel with a note and personal belongings.

A. Kaplan of Crowley Louisiana gained swift War Department orders to draft plans and specs for a lock in the intercoastal canal from Vermilion Bay to White Lake. The move, urged by Senator Foster, aims to stop salt water from reaching rice fields and pumping plants, protecting crops and land.
