In Baton Rouge on June 22 the Boudreaux Peterman honest election laws bills moved to third reading after amendments. The measures target fraudulent practices and the dummy candidate device plus curb campaign spending with increases for several offices. Amendments raised caps from 10 000 to 25 000 for U S senate and governor and 6 900 to 10 000 for other statewide offices. The anti shakedown bill by Schwing was returned to calendar after widening to include city employees. The Senate adjourned until 8 p m Monday with a vote to reconvene.
