Local Carbon Plant to Make Black by New Gas Invention
The Thermatomic Carbon Company of Monroe and Pittsburg has completed a 250000 dollar carbon black plant at Sterlington Ouachita parish. It will use a Pittsburgh inventor's process that claims significant gas savings and the ability to make ten pounds of carbon black for each pound produced by the old method.

Henry Briggs Dies in Orleans Today
Attorney Henry Briggs a leading Northeastern Louisiana lawyer died in New Orleans at noon after illness from an abdominal aneurysm. He resided in Monroe and was a member of Briggs and McHenry. He had been taken to New Orleans for an operation with his wife and partner present.
