Ray Spang of Ansonia Connecticut, believed mentally unbalanced, threw a woman and four children from a West Rock ledge in New Haven Park and then jumped to his death after sitting on a ledge for over an hour. A fireman reached him briefly before the fatal leap.
Louis Weiss former wealthy real estate owner in Jacksonville shot himself after drowning his 14 year old invalid son Francis in a bathtub. The son had infantile paralysis since birth. Mrs Weiss told authorities she doubted his claim he had to act.
New Orleans report notes June 21 is the year's longest day by only a few seconds with sunrise at 4 59 a m and sunset at 7 04 p m. Weather forecaster R A Dyke cites four near equal days June 19 20 21 and 22 with minute differences.
Bombay June 21 two hundred people including five women were injured and hospitalized as police cleared a nationalist demonstration at Maidan Esplanade. Police used bamboo clubs with 400 foot and 50 mounted officers aided by 30 officials and troops stood by. Ambulances ferried the injured to hospitals.
Coll Roberto Fierro of the Mexican army and mechanic Arnulfo Cortes departed Roosevelt Field in a Lockheed Sirius named Anahuac at 1:30 a.m. aboard a heavily fueled craft with 474 gallons of gasoline and 2712 gallons of oil for a 2000 mile nonstop Mexico City flight. The route planned takes them southwest across the United States to Houston then over the Gulf to Brownsville before heading inland toward Tampico and Mexico City.

New Orleans reports Bunyan Chamlin once a New Orleans church pastor died in jail after a long fight with narcotic addiction. He told police how addiction drove him from his pulpit and forced him to sell cars and surrender a vehicle to a drugs dealer who supplied his habit. A man named by Chamlin was arrested.
Baton Rouge reports an itemized bill showing state peniten tiary payments to W K Henderson owner of KWKH for prison equipment. Witness C T Phillips said the penitentiary owes $522 238 08 in two years including 329 038 84 in certificates of indebtedness and 193 199 24 in accounts payable. He noted some firms complained of nonpayment and that the institution was not making money and would need about 750000 more.
Police search for Joseph Fradella who after threatening a policeman with a revolver abducted his two children from the Bethlehem Orphan Asylum in New Orleans. Fradella had been separated from his wife.
In Chicago on June 21 a 17-year-old bride, Mrs. Lottie Gut, asked Superior Judge Williams for a divorce from Casimir Gut. She testified she was married without meeting him beforehand, learning only later the photo she saw showed him when younger.
In Rayville district court fines were imposed in seven gas cases with one verdict contented and six pleas of guilty. Richland Operating Company faced a $1,000 penalty for meter bypasses. International Gas Products Company, Inc. received $500 in each of six cases. Additional trials were pending as two more Richland cases on over production awaited the afternoon session.
Grover C. Bentley of Halls Tennessee, a dentist practicing for about 16 years, was barred from his profession after the state board of dental examiners revoked his license on charges of alleged fraudulent practice. Bentley, a Louisville School of Dentistry graduate and member of a notable Pikeville Kentucky family, was accused of practicing under a fake name.
