In Rouge on June 21 the house Ways and Means committee moved to place a 25 percent tax on malt products. The measure targets malt used in manufacturing breakfast and bread. Bakeries and homemakers fear the effect on cooking with malt. Proposal to defer action to amend the bill to cover only malt for home brew.
Baton Rouge July reports begin as A. M. Smith CPA starts audit of Louisiana Highway Commission under Attorney General Percy Saint.
