New 804 Area Code Set for Virginia Cities

J H Jeansonne of South Central Bell announced a new area code 804 will go into service June 24 for the southeastern half of Virginia including Richmond Norfolk Williamsburg Newport News Lynchburg Danville and the Eastern Shore. The existing 703 will remain in use in northern and western Virginia. If a caller dials 703 for a 804 number a recording will explain the correct area code.
