Lake Providence La June 20 Special A seven year old boy was killed and a young man and woman in critical condition after a collision on highway 65 near Millikin at 11 p m Saturday Two Negroes in a 37 Ford truck were held in jail in connection with the crash The dead is R B Cook Jr whose funeral was set for today In the Mercury car were war veterans Robert Lott Forest Miss and Joy Smith Eu dora with Robert Lott badly injured The truck occupants were James Robinson Lake Village and Raymond De Silvio Lake Providence
A. M. Black 38 of Baskin Franklin parish drowned when his fishing boat capsized in Worthingtons Bayou near Ferriday. Wife Lucille survived. Body recovered later. services set at Delhi Baptist Church with interment in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers named.
Miss Anne Cunningham of Shreveport La named Phi Kappa national sweetheart at the convention. She attends Gulf Park College and is a Mu Theta chapter sweetheart at Gulf Coast Military Academy. Also named national sponsors were Miss Dorothy Campbell Biloxi Miss Julia Katherine Matulick Columbia and Miss Lynn Williams Hattiesburg. Tau Biloxi won the efficiency cup for the third year running. Beta Memphis took the attendance cup. Major E A Hiller spoke against the Mississippi anti fraternal law, urging youth leadership and citizenship.
In Gothenburg Nebraska a Pony Express re enactment traced a route along Highway 30 from Blair to Scottsbluff and Pine Bluffs Wyoming with over 500 riders. Margaret Chamberlain 19 of Dickens Nebraska completed a 50 mile leg Ogallala to North Platte in 3 hours 25 minutes using five horses. The ride ended at Gothenburg where a preserved station was moved to a park in 1932 and over 10 000 covers were stamped for return mail.

Lincoln, June 20. Two members of the Barker gang identified by fingerprints as Albert C. Gladson and Alton Crapo were killed in a gun duel with Nebraska officers after a $75,000 diamond robbery. The pair had long criminal records, and the Barker gang's criminal career stretched from Missouri to Florida with prior bank robberies and kidnappings.
