Horace Havemeyer testified before the Sugar Trust investigation committee in Washington on June 20. He admitted that Henry C Havemeyer dominated the American Sugar Refining Company despite owning only a small stock stake. He said much of the Havemeyer fortune, about fifteen million dollars, now rests in beet sugar ventures.
