Reds Attack Tay Ninh and Saigon in Turbulent Campaign
Allied forces repelled a major push toward Tay Ninh City as North Vietnamese units pressed the provincial capital about 50 miles northwest of Saigon. In the north, 63 rocket strikes hit towns and bases, while a Saigon councilman was killed and a gun battle erupted in Cholon. At Fire Base Washington the fight intensified with U.S. 25th Infantry defending against Viet Cong forces. 35 enemies killed, six captured, and 14 Americans wounded. A helicopter was damaged but landed safely.

Funeral Friday for Mrs. Davis Monroe Resident
Funeral services for Marguerite Davis 63 of 3702 Loop Rd Monroe will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev Wayne Gray and Rev Russell Burns officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery Beaumont. She died after an apparent heart attack at St Francis Hospital. She was a native of Warren Texas and had lived in Monroe seven years. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church the Monroe Garden Club and Entre Nous Book Club. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Ben Allen and Mrs Steve Youngblood both of Beaumont Texas two brothers R C Brackin of Beaumont and W G Brackin of Port Neches Texas her mother Mrs Dora Brackin of Beaumont and five grandchildren.
