Banks Move To Buy Stocks For Customers
Banks including Chase Manhattan NY and Security Pacific LA offer to deduct 20 to 500 dollars from customer accounts to pool funds for buying up to 25 securities monthly. Customers pay brokerage fees plus a bank 5 percent charge, with fractional share credits and monthly reports. Dividends are reinvested at no extra charge. This approach aims to fix poor records at brokers and bypass some brokerage rituals as more banks and corporations offer direct purchase plans.

Stock Ticker Fragment Reflects 1973 Market Listings
An OCR fragment from a 1973 Associated Press release shows numerous stock symbols, prices, and percentage changes across multiple companies and sectors. The text includes well known firms such as Texaco, Textron, US Steel, Union Carbide, Xerox, and Westinghouse, with scattered figures and percent moves, interspersed with garbled data and references to various financial terms and percentage values. The overall content appears to be a chaotic ledger of equities rather than a cohesive narrative.
