Nixon Campaign Manager Sees Delegate Gains Ahead
CHICAGO AP Former Vice President Richard M Nixon has more than enough delegates to win the Republican nomination and plans to ignore late efforts to derail his bid. John Mitchell said there is optimism nationwide and Nixon will not engage in divisive attacks. AP tally shows 354 delegates pledged of 667 needed. Mitchell and supporters met in Chicago as Nixon spoke by phone from New York and prepared to focus on November while avoiding Rockefeller clashes.
