Rep O Hearn Expected Back On Duty Soon
Baton Rouge Shreveport Republican Rep Taylor O Hearn, recuperating from surgery, will return to legislative duties Monday. Colleague Rep Morley Hudson expects his return to spur efforts on bills for part of the New Orleans Shreveport toll road. O Hearn advocates a toll road system linking Shreveport to New Orleans Monroe and Lake Charles and co authoring enabling legislation. Officials of the Louisiana Expressway Authority say surveys justify a New Orleans to Alexandria route with a spur to Krotz Springs. Capitol chatter notes a standard four lane highway could cover the distance with no more cost than interest on toll road bonds, while a substitute may offer future interstate upgrades via I 29 to Shreveport and New Orleans after 1970.
