Civil Service Bill Wins Final Legislature Approval in Louisiana
The Louisiana Legislature approved the civil service measure by a 91 to 1 House vote. The package includes a state civil service system, integration of New Orleans into the act, a Little Hatch Act ban on political activity, and a path for cities over 50 000 to join. If voters approve in November, state civil service resumes June 30, 1953 after a five year gap.
