Don ald Aiken, 17, of Milwaukee swam nearly a mile in 45 degree Lake Michigan to save four men aboard the disabled fruit boat Mary Margaret. Ambrose Strump failed first, a coast guard cutter then towed the craft to safety as Aiken reached shore and called for help.
