Western Germany lifts ban on foreign investments
Berlin June 16 Foreign investments in western Germany are legal again though repatriation of profits remains unclear. The Allied High Commission unblocked foreign mark accounts for real estate and listed securities as experts expect capital inflows to aid recovery. Finance Minister Schaeffer called the move politically important but expected limited immediate economic impact. Unfrozen accounts total 37 to 50 million dollars with licenses for private business and loans at about seven percent.
