Louisiana higher education plan advances in Senate
The Louisiana Senate Education Committee backed by a 5-4 vote a constitutional proposal to create a coordinating agency for higher education. Lt. Gen. U S naval air strikes hit radar sites eight and ten miles southeast and northeast of Haiphong as carriers Hancock and Ranger flew 35 missions along the coast. Air Force planes north of the 17th parallel targeted the Mu Gia Pass and coastal Dong Hoi while heavy fighting ebbed elsewhere in South Viet Nam. In the Camboidan border area a reconnaissance battalion of 400 South Vietnamese attacked a Viet Cong base camp, killing 11 and capturing three, and seizing weapons and equipment.

Oak Grove Man Killed In Crash This Morning
A 64 year old Red Wing community resident Mohler Yates of Oak Grove was killed in a two truck crash on Louisiana Highway 2 six miles west of Oak Grove. James M. Griffith aged 39 of Oak Grove, who was driving a milk delivery truck, attempted to pass Yates as he turned left in a no passing zone. Griffith was charged with negligent homicide.
