Ouachita Parish Farm Bureau plans a public meeting Friday at 7 30 PM at the Agriculture Building Cypress Street to explain its opposition to the Kennedy Freeman Omnibus farm bill now before Congress. President Joe H Dixon urged attendance to learn the bill’s alleged evils and urge congressmen to oppose it.
Louisianians need self confidence to build civic pride, said Roy R Theriot, Louisiana State Comptroller and former Abbeville mayor, at Monroe Rotary. He urged stronger state promotion, noting Florida and California advertise heavily while Louisiana spends about 385000 annually. Baytown police said a 20 year old Sulphur man alternately admitted and denied killing a Beaumont service station attendant during a Tuesday morning attack.
