Kiwanis Reviews Year Of Work At Monroe Luncheon
The Monroe Kiwanis club met at Hotel Virginia to review the year’s activities. H Flood Madison led a round table discussion and the first five months’ financials were reported. Kiwanis night on June 19 will unite 2026 clubs in North America for All Kiwanis Night, designated as ladies’ night. Sid A. Moss, president, and wife will attend the Boston International convention, leaving Monroe Thursday night for Boston.

Marine Oiler Competitive Exam Open in Vicksburg
U S civil service commission announces an open competitive exam for the oiler marine position in the Vicksburg Mississippi engineer district. Salary 1260 to 1380 dollars yearly with retirement deduction and subsistence allowance. applicants need six months of oiling steam engines experience and must be 18 to 50 years old unless military or civil service protections apply. Build Inmate’s Bed Sparks Jail Bed Rub
Kansas City reporter: Jack Cady built his own bed in the city jail but could not sleep in it. Arrested for speeding and unable to post bond, he spent the night in custody. In court he told Judge Thomas V. Holland he disliked the bed because he helped build the jail beds. The judge quipped that he had been punished enough.

Baseball Centenary Stamps Placed On Sale At Monroe
A large consignment of special edition stamps marking baseball’s centennial has been received and placed on sale at the Monroe post office. Postmaster J R Wooten said there is strong demand with many calls coming in.
