Frank Bishop Heads Legion in Jonesville
Jonesville Louisiana June 14 Frank Bishop athletic director at Black High School was elected commander of Boyd Mann Post 163 of the American Legion for the year. He is a former Marine artillery officer with a reserve commission as first lieutenant and coaches the Legion junior baseball team. Also elected were Wollie C. Harris as vice commander, W. J. McNeely as adjutant, and R. P. Boyd Sr. as sergeant at arms. An executive committee post historian and post chaplain will be named. The post opposed house bill 226 to avoid politicizing veterans affairs and supported senate bill 266 for minor reforms. It also planned to sponsor the Bailes Brothers radio show on KWKH Shreveport in June, approved new post by laws, and aims for a war souvenir show to fund 1948 programs.
