Jonesville seeks power to hire or fire town marshal
Jonesville Louisiana officials approved a resolution urging the state legislature to allow the town to appoint or dismiss its marshal at will. The measure could not be placed in the 1948 session due to publication timing. The marshal is paid locally and the council would be his employer, with current marshal Nathan E Gallender’s term unaffected until 1950.
