The Fifth Congressional Medical Society held its semi annual convention at St. Francis clinic in Monroe with fifty to sixty attending physicians from about fifteen to twenty towns. Butler anti racing bill amended to require referenda
In Baton Rouge June 13 the Butler anti racing bill was altered to take effect only after a referendum in the respective parish or municipality. Senator S. E. Tobin of Natchitoches parish offered the amendment, adopted 57 to 21, effectively killing the bill and ensuring racing continues in Orleans and Jefferson parishes.
