Remedies for chiggers bites after exposure in shrubbery
Washington June 12 The Department of Agriculture advises that a bath in hot water or salt or strong soap water soon after exposure to chiggers can prevent ill effects. After long exposure a bath offers little relief, so direct remedies are needed. Apply a moderately strong ammonia solution to irritated areas, use a supersaturated baking soda solution or plain soda, and continue until irritation fades. If pain is severe, apply a dilute tincture of iodine or collodion.
