The U S Senate rejected without a record vote a bid to take up the municipal bankruptcy bill, killing the measure for this session. Senator Vandenberg pressed action, while Senator Robinson urged not to embark on the enterprise and Senator Reed warned it could destroy municipal borrowing power.

The outlaws, who fled after a wreck, abducted the officers and forced a local farmer to aid an injured companion, firing on bystanders before disappearing.
A violent windstorm on Sunday left four confirmed deaths and a missing person on Houghton Lake in Roscommon County Michigan. Con servation officers fear more may follow as counts from cottages rise. Names of the dead include Robert Walcott 30 of Charlotte John Townsend 38 and his son Francis 12 both of Alma and Florence Labuda 47 of Saginaw.

Balfe MacDonald, 17, admitted killing his mother Grace B. MacDonald last May 27 by beating her with heavy book ends. He made the statement after two hours of questioning at the Oak Street station, following his arrest in Nashville. The body was found at 8 a.m. by servants. two suspects fled city after buying gas.

Mrs. G. W. Bell was seriously hurt when Illinois Central No. 102 struck the car carrying her, G. W. Bell, and G. Barham of Oak Ridge on Riverfront Street crossing. Barham suffered shock and minor injuries, Bell escaped serious harm. all were taken to Riverside sanitarium. Barham left hospital Monday morning. the others remained for treatment. Deaf mutes in the car reportedly could not hear the approaching train as it was hidden by the depot.
In New Orleans on June 12 coroner George Roeling said an unidentified man found shot near a riverfront wharf likely took his own life. Bystanders saw him flee toward the Poydras street ferry landing and discharge a shot before vanishing behind a building. No weapon was recovered, but officials suspect a self-inflicted wound.

E. S. Waller lay in the clinic with concussion and facial lacerations after a wild morning drive linked to a car occupied by Waller, Ray Russell, and Daisy Odom. Russell faced a intoxicated driving charge. Russell was jailed in West Monroe after colliding with multiple vehicles before police stopped the spree. The woman was sent to Monroe jail for West Monroe officers. Waller remained semi conscious for hours.
