Chicago June 12 Practically every detail is arranged for the Coliseum to host a Republican national convention seating about 12 000 with a formally organized ambiance. The interior will feature flags bunting and a prominent President’s flag behind the speakers platform. A terraced stage holds 2 000 guests while 500 newspaper staff will be accommodated.
Weather report notes unsettled conditions with showers expected tonight and continuing into Thursday. Regions vary, with possible brief downpours and lingering clouds. Temperatures remain mild, with light winds and chances of isolated bursts.
Police and officering for the convention will be managed by experienced staff led by Sergeant at Arms William F. Stone. Hundreds of assistant sergeants at arms and ushers will supervise seating and crowds while uniformed city police are available only for emergencies. Eleven entrances are arranged with clear signage to guide attendees to their seats.
