Mississippi Renominates U S Solons in Primary Voting

Mississippi voters backed U S Senator James Eastland and four Democratic incumbents in a presidential primary round that hurt Negro balance hopes. Eastland won four to one. Reps Abernethy Whitten Williams and Colmer won easily. A possible runoff loomed in the 4th District as a Black candidate threatened to force a second round. Republican turnout lagged in the first-ever state GOP primaries.
