Madisonville Tennessee June 8 funeral services for Joseph Uncle Joe Parks 88 year old Confederate veteran were to be held today in the Epperson Presbyterian church of which he was a member but never attended He died yesterday at his home He joined about two months ago but because of age could not attend services Members held services at his home about a month ago to bring the church to him He said he had never been inside a church.
Mayor Arnold Bernstein will join dignitaries in Little Rock for President Roosevelt’s address marking Arkansas centennial. A telegram from Little Rock Mayor Overman and centennial chair Harvey C. Couch invited him to sit on the platform. Bernstein will depart Tuesday night for the event.
