Fire Drowned Out in Vast Wells Fight Near Vivian
In Shreveport Louisiana on June 8 the Producers Oil Company buried a tunnel to suppress a blaze at a large well four miles west of Vivian. The tunnel enabled water and oil to be forced out and flames to be extinguished after two weeks of costly efforts. The well, which had just been drilled with capacity over 5,000 barrels daily, caught fire May 13 killing one worker and injuring three.
