Louisiana Manufacturing Gains Slightly in April
Louisiana's manufacturing sector shows its first gain of the year with a 0.2 percent rise from mid-March to mid-April, led by durable goods increases in machinery and metal products and lumber. Non-durable goods fall. nonmanufacturing employment climbs 4.0 percent to about 420,900, with construction and trade driving growth while oil and gas gain modestly and transportation shows a slight dip. Agricultural unemployment drops about 4 percent as farm worker departures and seasonal shifts shape the labor picture.
