Governor Authorized to File State Fraud Suits
A bill to empower the governor to sue to annul contracts with the state for fraud or illegality was introduced in the Senate by Senator Allen. The governor could direct the attorney general or district attorneys or appoint special counsel, with suits filed where the contractor resides, where property is located, or where work is performed. The measure includes all state agencies and has Governor Long’s endorsement. A separate bill on selecting delegates to national party conventions proposes a state convention of 400 to 600 delegates apportioned by congressional district to set rules and instruct the national delegation.
