Jackson judge weighs police power on federal property
Judge James Spencer considered a jurisdictional dispute over whether city police can arrest demonstrators on federal property after four integrationist pickets were arrested on the steps of Jacksons federal building. Negro attorney R Jess Brown argued the case belongs in federal court, while city prosecutor Jack Travis urged continued local action. The judge called the issue interesting and took the matter under advisement.
