Firemen Test Their Methods
Monroe Fire Department conducted oil and gasoline fire response tests on Winnsboro Road using a 12 by 6 foot pit and two smaller pits with oil. Demonstrations compared hand pump water, carbon tetrachloride, carbon dioxide, and Foamite with hose lines and fog nozzles, showing extinguishing times from four to twenty seconds depending on method.
