Levy Oratorio Masada Salutes Israel at Kennedy Center

Marvin David Levy, composer of Mourn ing Become Electra for the Met, is commissioned by the National Symphony to write a large oratorio titled Masada. The work will premiere next fall at the Kennedy Center as a salute to Israel's 25th anniversary with Richard Tucker as soloist. The Masada tale recalls the Zealots' 70 AD siege on a Holy Land fortress.

Funeral for Mrs Loveisa Baker Held in Mangham

Funeral services were held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Mangham for Loveisa Baker 70 who died of an apparent heart attack at her Rayville residence. The Rev W M Brass led the rites at the church cemetery under Hunt's Golden State Funeral Parlor Rayville direction. She was a Richland Parish native and Pilgrim Rest member. Mrs Elsie Lamkin obituary from Biloxi

Mrs Elsie Lamkin Biloxi Miss died Saturday at Howard Memorial Hospital after a seven week illness. She was 98 and the widow of John Boamer Lamkin. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery Gulfport. She resided near Monroe for years and was a Meridian Miss native. Survivors include a daughter Mrs Arnaud Craves Biloxi and sister Mrs Mary Gary Howie Gulfport.
