War tensions escalate as British reinforcements move into the plebiscite zone while Poles and Germans clash near Scismis how. Warsaw reports Lt. Henry I. Wanick executed for treason as Polish insurgents crack down on plunder and unrest with firing squads.
The Monroe Refining Corporation of Monroe Louisiana is formed with $20,000 capital and potential to rise to $100,000 to build a refinery in Ouachita parish near Monroe within 30 to 90 days. Directors are A. T. Shotwell C. E. Burdett and C. A. Propit with officers Shotwell president Burdett vice president Propit secretary treasurer. Developments in Northeastern Louisiana and Southern Arkansas signal a surge in gas industry activity with doubled outputs and opening of new gas wells.
Tokio reports the navy minister ordered withdrawal of naval garrisons from the South Pacific islands including Yap, leaving protection to the civil administration police and retaining several destroyers as guardships.
