Registration day at Jones Monroe's Lincoln Chautauqua drew many attendees as the event urged everyone to register tomorrow with the aid of local organizers and officials.
A historic speech extols universal service with one day registration. Every town will expedite enrollment and exempted registrants to follow. Able bodied citizens are urged to join the national effort, with 500000 first draft, future expansion by volunteers if needed, and continued recruiting.
Registration runs Tuesday June 5 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the registration place for each citizen’s permanent residence. All men who have reached 21 or are in service with the regular army navy marine corps national guard naval militia or reserve officers or enlisted in active service must register.
Union Press Association notes Registration Day to be held nationwide tomorrow. The draft applies to men within the 21 to 41 year age range unless actively engaged in U S military service. Details emphasize universal registration with limited exemptions.

Hipple’s Orchestra performs this afternoon and Ralph Paclette will lecture tonight on University of Herd Knocks. Morning free youth programs feature play, dance, and storytelling led by Miss Johnson. Louis Haight leads the system with assistants from Wabash Crawfordsville Monmouth and Northwestern.
Washington June 4 The State of Louisiana lost the Supreme Court proceedings to halt a sale of state lands valued at over 4.9 million after fraud claims in the Tensas Basin Levee Board suit against the Tensas Delta Land Co. The court held Louisiana failed to intervene in the action.
Paria June 4. Santos Diamont a Brazilian aviator says he invented a powerful seaplane to combat submarines. The Turin dispatch states the machine will be manufactured in the United States and supplied to all Allies.

Washington June 4 Associated Press says the War Department plans to draft from ninety thousand to one and a half million men and expects registration tomorrow. Provost Marshal Crowder told the Senate military committee exemptions will likely cut the number to about six hundred twenty five thousand for immediate service.
Alfred D. Land of Shreveport Amocrite Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court died in New Orleans this morning after a stroke. He was 75 years old.
