In Verviers a mob attacked gendarmes with missiles. police fired, leaving about thirty dead or wounded and seven gendarmes injured.
Five people died after gas fumes suffocated them in a grain well at Jacob Sachs dairy in Fairmont near Cincinnati. Four others lost their lives attempting to rescue Lewis, the first victim, during the accident reported today.
Washington June 4 The Underwood cotton tariff reduction bill was reported favorably to the House by the Ways and Means Committee. The measure is identical to the bill passed by both houses and vetoed by President Taft last August.
Bids for the St Francis Sanitarium building were opened this afternoon and the contract awarded to I T Davis of this city. Project cost about $75,000. Architect Barnes and donors Father Enant and Father Marie approved the award at the Catholic rectory. Plumbing, heating and elevator bids were rejected but may be retendered this afternoon.
Land agents H. D. Apgar and Guy P. Stobbs completed the disposal of 18 359 acres in a large tract sale. The transaction transfers holdings to unspecified buyers under terms not detailed in the snippet.

The case concerns material linked to his public attacks on the Catholic Church and Watson plans to defend himself at trial.
