Negro Deputy Killed in Bogalusa Ambush
In Bogalusa Louisiana a Negro deputy sheriff the area’s first Black officer was shot dead on Louisiana 21 near Vornado as his partner was wounded. A 41 year old white man from Bogalusa was arrested in Taylortown Mississippi and held for Louisiana authorities on murder charges. An intensive search and troop reinforcement followed the ambush with multiple shots riddling the squad car.
