Washington July 31 The administration banned aviation gasoline exports to all nations except those in the Western Hemisphere American owned firms operating outside the hemisphere may still obtain fuel Early a presidential secretary said Colonel R Maxwell administrator of export control recommended and the order limits aviation gasoline exports for national defense aims The move avoids disrupting American owned companies such as Pan American Airways which operates to Portugal and Pacific routes
The House Appropriations Committee endorsed nearly five billion dollars for a two ocean navy and a potential 2,000,000 man army in combat status. The measure would lift total session funding for defense to over 10 billion dollars, with 2.23 billion in direct appropriations and about 2.73 billion in future contract authorizations.
