Helm-Burch tests deepen west of Urania oil field
Reports from Urania say the Helm and Burch No 1 well in 28-11-2E reached 1885 feet with attempts to bring in a producer. A 41⁄2 inch screen was set, sand production caused by sand migration halted by a sand pump and reaming, strong gas pressure followed by oil indications, now a 6 inch 40 mesh screen with back pressure valve is being installed. Nearby tests at Love No 1 in 16-11-2E show gas and gumbo through 1379 feet with optimism rising for an 8 mile extension of the field if oil is confirmed. Imperial Oil and Gas Co. drilled at 10-10-2E to 1446 feet with cutting watch. New locator plans and field confidence grow after Rowe-Wallace success without sand or salt water issues.
