John Henry Powell, 21, was arrested by Monroe police on charges of disturbing the peace and kidnapping his estranged wife. He was returned to Minden Sunday afternoon at 2 o clock. Powell allegedly forced his wife at gunpoint to leave her father Claude Carter home in Minden and accompany him to several cities. He was taken into custody at 7:45 a.m. Sunday by Captain W. O. Causey and Sergeant G. A. Wood on a warrant from Minden officers. Powell gave 316 Egan Street as his home and had been working in Shreveport at Barksdale Air Force Base. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Catalina of Egan Street.
