Joy Steele wedding plans spark pre nuptial events with a bridge party at Miss Lillie Thompson’s Fairview home. The July 20 social column also notes club meetings, guest speakers, regional travel plans, and family announcements across Mangham and Monroe.
The gown is black crepe with vestece and pockets sewn in silver lame embroidered with rhinestones. A chorister cap mirrors the embroidery and includes a glamorous net veil.
Native pipes from New Guinea rely on long bamboo stems. A smoker fills the stem with smoke, removes the bowl, closes the end, and inhales through the nostrils.
Mrs. R. S. Gayle led the session on a lesson from Women of the Bible at Mrs. Lawton s home with nine members present. A separate bridge party by Mrs. D. C. Johnson and Miss Hazel Kathan at Tendal yielded prizes for high and low scores and a salad course closing the games.
Attendance included Mrs. Allen Nadler of Plaquemine and many local hosts. Circle four of the Baptist Missionary society featured a yearbook study led by Mrs. Albert Bunch. Thursday Night club guests shared a supper bridge with high scores won by Mrs. W. M. Scott and Mr. C. H. Todd.
Eve and George confess enduring love and plan a life with roots and home. He asks for certainty and she affirms deep commitment, envisioning children, shared memories, and a stable life together in the autumn orchard. The scene closes with the couple contemplating returning home as a settled family.
Mrs. Harold Elliott and children of Monroe were guests of her sister. Palmer Pylant of San Francisco visits his parents here. Mr. and Mrs Joyce Cummings and son of Darnell visit relatives. Ned Duval guests of Johnnie Coon. Eva Dale Coon of West Monroe spends weekend with her parents. Gladys Bennett returns from Monroe visit. Mrs Newsom L Coon and son Max L Coon visit. Mr and Mrs C D McDanell and son George Wayne. Percy McDanell of Ruston, Bob McDanell listed among visitors.
An Arizona publisher released a cook book featuring more than a number of recipes that use cactus plants.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McDonell attended the funeral of their grandmother Mrs. M. J. Hay. Mrs. Lena Johnson and daughter Louise have returned home to Hodge after visiting the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Bennett.
