Costs For Groceries Slow Down Slightly
The June Consumer Price Index rose five tenths of a percent led by energy costs up 1.9 percent while food costs edged higher. Gasoline and motor oil fueled inflation though grocery prices slowed after May gains. overall CPI 5.9 percent higher than a year earlier with June CPI at 170.1.

The government reported a seasonally adjusted CPI of 170.1 in June, up from 169.2 in May. Grocery prices cooled with beef and pork declines and fruit and vegetables easing, while eggs coffee bakery poultry and dairy costs rose. Beef fell 0.4 percent after a 3.9 percent jump in May. pork fell 1.5 percent. coffee rose 4.9 percent. poultry up 3.5 percent. Nonfood commodities gained 0.5 percent, easing from May and the prior year’s trend.
