McGurn and Rolfe Convicted in Mann Act Plot Case
Chicago July 21 The case against Jack McGurn chief lieutenant to Al Capone and his wife Louise Rolfe ended with a federal conviction for conspiracy to violate the Mann Act. McGurn faces two years on each of three counts to run consecutively with parole possible after two years. Rolfe received four months in county jail. Bond set at 15000 for McGurn and 5000 for Rolfe. The couple were linked to Chicago gang killings in prior investigations. The trial, conducted without a jury, cost the government four thousand dollars.

Air mail pilot dies in Centralia plane crash

Texas Youth Dies in Car Crash Near Jonesboro
James Helm Jr 17 of Dallas was killed when the car he drove overturned on a curve between Jonesboro and Hodge. Hall McCord 16 was seriously injured and taken to a Shreveport sanitarium, while Louis Breffeith 17 escaped with minor injuries. The trio had been returning from a swimming party. Mike Murray a ticket taker at the Southern association baseball park was struck and killed by a passenger train while fishing on a railroad bridge over Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans.
