Princeton Massachusetts July 21 Maxwell Bodenheim author, linked to Virginia Drew the drowned poet, was found here and claimed innocence about the Hudson River death. He said he only learned of the tragedy from reporters and described a vain critique that upset the girl who sought publication. Police had wired New York officials to locate him and verify his position with Drew.
Prohibition agents and U S marshals padlocked eight Broadway bars in New York under a temporary pad lock order. The move, first in New York, halted bar service while trials proceed, with clubs including Melody, Peters Blue Hour, Luigis, Charm, and Mimic among those sealed.

New York police say Miss Virginia Drew, a literary protege of Maxwell Bodenheim, killed herself after failing at a literary career. Her body was found in the Hudson Thursday after being last seen at Bodenheim's apartment Monday. Relatives doubt the suicide theory and suspect foul play connected to a pact with a prominent novelist.
W M Barrow former secretary of the Louisiana Highway Commission says in a statement issued at friends requests that western Louisiana parishes municipalities and the state have saved about 2 1/2 million dollars due to his work before the Interstate Commerce Commission. He notes two major rate cases involving Southwestern Gravel and road material rates west of the Mississippi and between Louisiana and Arkansas, begun in 1924 but heated in 1926. He says he is under contract with the commission to handle the case to completion.
