In Newark on July 21 Salvatore Castrovone, 53, an inventor, went insane and opened fire from his locksmith shop and adjoining building. Four passersby were shot and badly wounded. police returned fire as Castrovone fired from windows. flames from his clothing ignited the house and a bomb exploded in the shop. A woman and her five year old son were rescued as the blaze spread. Castrovone, a recluse who reportedly invented submarine appliances, died in the blaze.
Estells Gauihier of Jennings Louisiana, 10, was brought to Charity Hospital where doctors diagnosed infantile paralysis. This case marks the fourth in New Orleans, all patients confined to Charity Hospital.
A posse of about fifty men girds Cane Brake in pursuit of the suspected murderer of the sheriff. The alert gathers in the region as volunteers close in on the outlaw thought to be hiding in the area. The case unsettles residents and prompts urgent vigilance.

Hamilton Ont July 19 An important gathering of insurance men the tenth annual convention of the Canadian Life Insurance Underwriters association met here today with about 500 members in attendance and a number of prominent United States insurance men. Sessions continue through the week to discuss topics of interest to the trade. The program includes a visit to Niagara Falls and a banquet at the Royal Connaught hotel.

Wilfréd Aymond, fireman on the Tron Mountain road gravel train, died at midnight in a sanitarium after being struck by a post in Woodworth. He suffered a fractured skull and leaves a widow, several brothers and sisters. Funeral set for Center Point today.
