McNamara says oil strikes show no early effect on Viet infiltration

Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara told reporters that U.S. air strikes against North Vietnamese oil depots have yet to show any measurable impact on communist infiltration into the South. He warned that increased infiltration could trigger more air raids as U.S. production accelerates and plans for possible further escalation unfold.

House Trailer Damaged Again in Delhi Fire

The house trailer of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sharplin was extensively damaged by a fire of undetermined origin on Monday marking a second recent fire for the family. Mrs Sharplin received treatment for shock at Delhi Clinic and was released. No damage estimate was available.

Heat Wave Triggers Power Blackouts Across States

A severe heat wave spurred high electricity use and outages in St. Louis and central and eastern Nebraska.
