Another Shreveport Child Has Polio
Twenty two Shreveport children and twenty six in Caddo Parish have polio. Judith Kay Thompson nine, daughter of Sgt and Mrs Warren Thompson, is the latest non paralytic case treated at Charity Hospital polio center. Two other Wednesday cases are Emmett Finley six and Deborrah Ann Lowe.

Big Harvest Forecast This Year

Jilted Officer Kills Nurse and Guards at Houston Hospital
Captain Renard Haywood of Ellington Air Force Base forced his way into Memorial Hospital nursing home killing Miss Carroll Cooper 24 and two guards Robert Peterson 64 and J C Fair 69 before shooting himself. Nurse eyewitness Miss Sue Grantham 19 described the chaotic scene as Haywood barricaded the woman in her room and fired at responders. The incident followed years of rejected courtship including a threatening message last Friday.

In Jonesboro a 37 year old Archie Gentry shot his wife six times at the Jonesboro Hotel cafe then killed himself. Lavelle Tixley was wounded in the leg as a bystander. The couple, from Delhi, left four children and had recently moved to town.

Shea Faces Murder Charge After Fatal Stabbing
Dr J T French Ouachita parish coroner said Mrs Katie Leola Shea 37 of 210 North Eighth died from stab wounds to the chest causing a thoracic hemorrhage. Charles Joseph Shea 32 of 210 North Eighth was booked for murder after police said he recalled blacking out and awakening over his wife’s body near an alley by a railroad spur. The killing occurred shortly before midnight Thursday.
